Based on bamboo plywood processing technology, the plywood now can be processed to thinnest 1.5mm, the size 4' by 8', and the thickest will be unlimited theoretically, you can use multi-plys to meet your thickness. The size of bamboo plywood normally is 4' by 8' or smaller, but for the single layer (LB1 or LB2) you can make 4m or more long plywood, this long plywood is not made by long pressing table, but by a subsection pressing technology.
The glue used in bamboo plywood industry now are as following types:
1. UF adhesive---Urea-Formaldehyde adhesive, it's the cheapest glue to be used widely (not only in wood industry. but in upholstery, closing, carpet etc.)
2. PF adhesive---Pheonl-Formaldehyde adhesive, it's normally used to make strand woven bamboo.
3. MF adhesive---Melamine-Formaldhyde adhesive, expensive glue
4. PVAc---Polyvinyl Acetate adhesive, expensive glue
5. Aqueous Polyurethane Adhesive, expensive glue
Because there is a formaldehyde emission from some types of adhesive, such as UF, PF, MF, the manufacturers need to take measures to limit the emission of formaldehyde, they either use the glues without the emission such as PVAc or Polyurethane, or use UF to blend certain chemical compouds, such as MF, PVAc, etc., so that to low formaldehyde emission, which finally lower than 0.1ppm,
Brightbamboo supplies two types of glue products, our PVAc bamboo plywood was firstly supplied to Europe in 1994, recently we have another option, that is Aqueous Polyurethane adhesive bamboo plywood. These two kinds of glue have no formaldehyde emission, beyond less than NIOSH recommends.
